17 Shards

So, a Twitter friend and I did a thing. it's a tribute, of sorts, to the victims and survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting.

Thanks to @Trumpet1984 for his lovely poem.

Music by yours truly.

Main vocal by Cory Dempsey of Orlando, Florida.

When the phrase 'school shooting' enters the lexicon to such a degree that it rolls off the tongue as easily as water off a duck's back, it's beyond time for a change.

Sandy Hook should have ended this conversation. That we're even here is a travesty, a failure of responsibility. That we now look to our young people to lead in the wake of such an atrocity is an indictment of our society. It's a damned good job that they're showing greater leadership and focus than any of our elected officials.

If you're out marching today, be safe. You carry my heart and my hopes with you.
